If you or a loved one would prefer to save some money on the price of a stairlift installation and do your bit to help the environment at the same time by reusing mobility equipment, then a reconditioned model might be the ideal solution for you.
Our range of quality reconditioned stairlift models are stringently checked, rigorously tested, and reconditioned to the highest of standards, so good in fact that our customers always tell us "It looks like a new lift" when they have one installed.
As well as reconditioned models we also offer new models and also rental lifts for straight and curved stairs. Renting stair lifts can work out at a cheaper price if you only need one for a short period.
Whatever stairlift you may need for your budget we have the ideal option that will help you to save money overall on a stairlifts cost.
When a used stairlift is no longer needed, we remove them from customers' homes and bring them back to our workshop. The majority of the used stairlifts that we recondition were originally installed in our customers' homes so we know the full service history of every stairlift.
Used stairlifts are scrapped if they are too old, worn out, or obsolete, and only the best used stairlifts are saved for reuse to sell and install in new customers' homes to help improve their mobility and help them to live independently at home.
Our dedicated workshop engineer ensures that every used stairlift is fully tested and checked over to be deemed fit to sell as a reconditioned stairlift and meet our exacting standards. The reconditioning process takes several hours to do, including replacing any worn parts, to make sure it is in perfect working order before heading out to install it in its new home.
Each used stairlift is run on our test rails in our workshop before they are given our high-quality seal of approval. They are then thoroughly cleaned and sanitised ready for resale. We take photos of the reconditioned straight stairlift or curved stairlift and add them to our system. That's so when our Surveyor comes to your home, he can show you the photos on our system and you can buy with confidence knowing exactly what you are buying. You can even see the straight or curved reconditioned stairlifts in person, if you wish by visiting our showroom and warehouse.
We sell refurbished used stairlifts so you can be assured of it's quality - this is a reconditioned stairlift. The reconditioning process will impact price, which is why a fully reconditioned model will cost a bit more than second hand stairlifts.
A second hand stairlift is usually something you can pick up on resale sites like ebay uk etc. These are second hand stairlifts normally being sold by a private seller wishing to get rid of them when the install is no longer required. They normally have a lower price and can be tempting to buy if you are looking for a cheaper install however, what you won't know is very often these "lower price bargains" can turn out to be a disaster. We know because we've visited customers who have come to us following a bad experience where they have wasted money doing this and fallen foul of not realising exactly what buying a second hand stairlift entails.
These second hand stairlifts won't have been properly safety checked and reconditioned. What fits one home may not fit another because of the rail measurements and for sure curved stairlifts won't fit your stairs because of the tailor made to measure rails. You don't know the maintenance history and they may even be so old that they are obsolete and you won't be able to get parts for them (we've seen it happen)!
These stair lifts might not even be suitable for your needs or your stairs, to allow adequate clearance for your knees on the stairs.
Therefore if you are thinking about buying a used stairlift equipment then please contact an approved stairlift dealer trained by the stairlift manufacturers, like ourselves.
Reconditioned stairlifts are a yes, second hand stairlifts possibly not!
When we install a reconditioned stairlift it has been refurbished to a very high standard which includes testing that all the safety features are in perfect working order. On installation, we provide a test certificate to certify that the product has been tested and checked and is safe for reuse.
Unless you are a manufacturer trained stairlift installer you won't know what you are buying if you buy a second hand stairlift that isn't from a recognised stairlift company.
If you buy second-hand stairlifts from a private seller or un-trained installers there can be huge safety implications to consider. You wouldn't drive your car if it had been bodged together by someone who doesn't know what they are doing. The same applies here. A reconditioned stairlift should only ever be installed by the stairlift manufacturers trained engineer and never self-installed as a DIY job or by a handyman or electrician, to avoid a potential accident and compromise on the safety of the user.
Certified engineers like ours will have had UK-based manufacturers training to undertake the job correctly and safely.
A reconditioned stairlift can last many years. The average lifespan of a new stairlift is around 7-10 years so depending on the age or use the reconditioned stairlift has had, it should last you for a number of years. This is provided it is properly installed by a stairlift company and annually serviced and safety checked by them. We offer this full service as part of our ongoing maintenance agreements.
When you purchase a reconditioned straight stairlift, our workshop engineer will cut a rail to fit the dimensions of your straight staircase. The seat and carriage are ready to go so together with the rail, our reconditioned straight stairlifts are ready-to-go for a quick installation.
With a curved stairlift, while the seat and carriage are fully reconditioned, each curve stairlift rail is made-to-measure to fit the bends of your stairs. Therefore, this will impact price and wait times as the rail has to be made. Normally a curved stairlift wait time is around 3-4 weeks.
We only sell quality reconditioned models to suit your stairs whether they be for a straight staircase, curved or spiral stairs or even narrow stairs, we have the ideal solution for you. As a guide:
Straight Stairlift Reconditioned prices from = £950
Curved Reconditioned Stair lifts prices from = £2800
Stairlifts cost can vary depending on the configuration of the stairs and can vary according to brand. Extra features can increase the cost of your stairlift but we will only ever suggest them if we believe they are necessary for your safety and accessibility on the stairs.
You should factor in that you should budget for an ongoing servicing and maintenance or warranty package. Stairlifts are mechanical equipment that needs to be checked annually and rigorously tested for use.
New batteries will be needed too because although the lifts are wired into the mains electricity in your home, they run on a low voltage trickle charge to the batteries. These will need to be replaced every few years but this can vary depending on usage.
Save money. A refurbished stairlift is often several hundred pounds cheaper offering value for money at a lower price of buying a brand new stairlift.
