Straight Stairlifts

A straight stairlift runs on a rail fixed directly to your stair treads, not the wall, so there’s no structural work involved and no damage to your home. The seat folds away neatly when not in use, keeping the stairs free for everyone else in the household.

All models are battery-powered, which means they’ll continue working during a power cut. The stairlift charger is wired into a powerpoint nearby and this charges the batteries when parked on a charge point.

There’s a simple arm control, that you push in the direction of travel with constant pressure to take you up and down the stairs.  It really is that simple to use.

If your staircase runs in a single straight line from bottom to top, a straight stairlift will almost certainly fit. We carry models to suit narrow staircases, extra-long staircases, and everything in between.

As an independent dealer, we’re not restricted to one manufacturer’s range. If one model doesn’t fit your stairs, we have others that will. We’ve installed stairlifts in spaces where other companies have said it couldn’t be done.

If your stairs have a bend, a quarter landing, or are fan-shaped, a curved stairlift is likely the better option and we can advise you on that too during a free home visit.

Reconditioned stairlift: A quality-checked, pre-owned model that has been reconditioned and offers the same reliability at a lower price. Comes with a one-year warranty. A practical choice if budget is a consideration or you prefer more eco-friendly models.

Rental stairlift: Ideal for shorter-term needs if you are perhaps while recovering from surgery, after a fall, or while weighing up longer-term options. It’s also a great option if you prefer not to buy a stairlift outright.  The installation, removal, and maintenance are all included. Unlimited warranty throughout.

Straight stairlifts start from around £2150 for a new model, depending on the make, features, and length of your staircase. Reconditioned models are available at lower prices from £1,200, and rental starts from £450 plus £50 per month. We give you a precise written quote after a free home survey, so there are no hidden costs.

Most straight stairlift installations take around two to three hours from start to finish. Our engineers tidy up fully before they leave, including vacuuming. You’ll be shown how to use the stairlift before they go, and you can have as many trial runs as you need to be confident you can work it correctly before we go.  Any questions after the installation, just give us a call.

You will need a powerpoint at the top of the stairs which will power the battery charger unit, which powers the stairlift. If you don’t have one, we can arrange for an electrician to fit one as part of the installation.

Yes, in most cases. We carry models specifically designed for narrower staircases. During a free home survey we’ll measure your stairs and confirm which models will fit, and we’ve found solutions in staircases where other companies said it couldn’t be done.  If you have a particularly narrow straight staircase that a straight stairlift will not fit on, there is an option to fit a curved stairlift in a straight run configuration.

If your staircase has a bend, a quarter landing, a half-turn, or fan-shaped stairs, you’ll likely need a curved stairlift rather than a straight one. We offer a full aftercare service including repairs, servicing, and maintenance contracts. Our engineers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergencies, and their vans are stocked with the most commonly needed parts. We also repair stairlifts we didn’t originally install.

If you have a long-term or permanent health condition that affects your mobility, you’ll normally qualify for VAT exemption on your stairlift. We’ll guide you through the straightforward self -declaration process as part of your order.  All pricing on our website does not include VAT (which would be added on if it applies).
