Handicare 1100
The standard model of the Handicare 1100 has a manual swivel seat which can be upgraded to a powered swivel seat. Like all stairlifts, when the seat reaches the end of the track at the top of the stairs, the chair swivels to help you get on and off easily. The manual version of the 1100 has a lever at the side of the chair to release and turn it like you would an office chair. While the upgraded powered seat turns automatically, by keeping the joystick pressed when getting to the top of the stairs.
To achieve a more compact unit, the seat base, armrests, and footrest of this chair fold up manually when not in use. The Handicare 1100 has an optional powered folding footrest that folds the footrest up at the touch of a button on the armrest, suitable for those who are unable to reach down to fold the footrest up.
The upholstery is a wipe clean fabric available in a neutral vanilla beige leather look that blends beautifully with any décor.
The chair on this stairlift has a paddle style joystick on the end of the armrest to go up and down the stairs. It requires constant pressure on the control to move it, as with all models. Simply press it left or right and the lift will travel. It is a light touch control and is super easy to use with its ergonomic design.
The reeling seatbelt for this chair has an easy release function, suitable for those who are dexterity impaired. Also included, are two remote controls, perfect for calling and moving the seat when needing to use the lift or send it to another person.
As with all stairlifts, the 1100 is battery operated and charged by the mains. In the event of a power cut, the chair will continue to operate until power is restored.
The lift charges on a continuous charge, meaning there’s no charge station to park the lift on specifically, it will charge anywhere on the rail for added convenience. The rail, like with every lift, is screwed to the stair treads and not the wall so there is no damage to decoration and no load bearing wall is required.
Unique to the 1100, it runs on a friction drive not a rack and pinion. That means that there is no rack on the rail with exposed teeth, making the lift rail much easier to clean and no need for lubrication.
The Handicare 1100 also boasts the slimmest straight rail of any model. Unique also to this model is the “slide track” option used instead of a powered hinge rail. If you have an open hallway or doorway at the bottom of the stairs where a rail would obstruct access, the slide track will do just that – it will move the rail up the stairs out of the way to clear the obstruction.
