We feel that buying from an independent dealer gives you a completely unbiased assessment of your needs, as we are not tied to any one particular manufacturer. We'll only recommend the best solution that will work for you and your home in a person-centred way, so you get the best lift for your needs. Being a local family-run business with over 20 years of experience in fitting stairlifts and homelifts, you can be assured of our expertise and service.
We’ll help you compare Stiltz options, explain what’s realistic for your layout, and guide you on the best configuration for your needs and budget. You also get a local team to project-manage the installation and support you afterwards, which makes a big difference when you want quick answers and reliable aftercare. For many customers, it’s the combination of the right product and the right people that makes the whole experience feel reassuring. If you want straightforward guidance, we’re happy to talk it through in plain English.
Stiltz Homelifts can cost from around £12,000 + upwards. Prices will vary depending on the installation, the lift car size you have, and the preparation work required. It may be that you will need minimal building work to form the aperture or the hole in the ceiling for the lift to travel through from the downstairs room to upstairs, or you may require more complex work. This would be determined by a home survey, which is free of charge, and you are under no-obligation or high-pressure selling practices, just honest advice.
You may be able to qualify for help with the costs of paying for a Stiltz home lift. Disabled facilities grants are means-tested grants for adults in the UK, but not for Children. Anyone can apply for a disabled facilities grant, even if you rent your home or are a homeowner. Your finances would need to be assessed, including any additional benefits you may receive. The Local Authority Adult/Children's social services will be able to advise you more on the application process. A professional Occupational Therapist will come and visit to make an assessment. The most cost-effective solution that will meet the customers' needs is often recommended. This might be a stair lift and not a home lift if there is no clinical need. We will go through this in more detail in our blog post **SEE HERE***
Our friendly surveyors will visit your home to assess your space, discuss your needs, and recommend the right Stiltz home lift for your lifestyle and future mobility. The survey is completely free with no obligation — just honest advice and a clear written quote based on your home. If you’d prefer to see a lift before you decide, you’re welcome to book a demonstration in our showroom too.
1st Choice Stairlifts & Homelifts have two showrooms, one in Ferndown, Dorset, and our Head office in Calne, Wiltshire. In our Dorset showroom, you can see the Stiltz Duo model. In Calne, we have the Stiltz Trio model and a Stiltz Duo. Please note that these models are dummy models only because of restrictions we have in headroom; they are unable to move up and down. However, coming into the showroom will give you a good idea of what one looks like and visualise what it will be like in your home. If you would like to come to our showroom, please book an appointment to ensure we have someone available to spend time with you and talk through the options.
We also have other lifts as well as Stiltz such as a working Wessex VM through the floor lift available, which goes from our ground floor to first floor at our Calne showroom, as well as our range of stairlifts and a steplift.
Call us on 01249 477699 or request your free home survey or showroom visit.
Stiltz elevators have a very low power consumption and only runs off a 13 amp plug socket, so electricity costs will be similar to other appliances and should be no more than putting the kettle on.
It is possible that if you have a long-term disabling condition, your lift would be zero-rated for VAT on completion of a self-declaration form provided by us. If you don't have a disability and are over 60 years old, VAT is charged at the reduced rate of 5%. If you want a lift to futureproof your home and don't have a disability or you are under 60 years old, then VAT is charged on top of the price at the standard rate of 20% (current as at 2026).
