FIRST AID FOR 1ST CHOICE TEAM
In July the 1st Choice Stairlifts team received Emergency First Aid for Appointed Persons training, which included everything from resuscitation and choking to dealing with burns, scalds and shock. Everyone including the engineers, office staff and even the Directors enjoyed a very informative day and learnt new skills to be able to react to most first aid situations.
Director Colin Major said “As most of our customers are elderly and disabled, we do very occasionally come across situations where a customer has perhaps fallen whilst the engineer is in their home or they take a turn. We felt that it was very important for all our staff to be trained in first aid, to enable them to confidently deal with an emergency situation if it ever arises.”
The training was very practical and hands-on where all the staff got to try out the various skills they learnt including resuscitation techniques on the dummy, which is harder than it looks! Still if as an individual we can help someone in need whether it is a customer, passer-by or family and friends, it was a very worthwhile exercise.
